Perhaps you're wondering why anyone would
give away any kind of decent software for
free, or for such a low price. Well listen,
and I'll tell you our story:
I started out my career as a graphic and web
designer in 2003. In 2011, I went back to
school as a BSc undergraduate. In 2015, I
was accepted into vet school and met my
spouse in my clinical year - the lead
software engineer for a medical software
company.
Someone told us a couple years later that we
should make the perfect vet software. So, we
started to! And then life got in the way. We
bought a farm, and moved, and became too
busy.
By the time life settled down a bit, I had
to start cutting my expenses. Vet software
was too expensive! So I cancelled my current
software subscription and moved my mobile
practice to manual records. Uh... nope. Word
docs meant making a header template for
every patient, or constantly retyping their
info. I was using file folder hacks to
organize id numbers, and the finicky
software that came with my label printer.
This was not working.
I began searching for a free software that
would allow me to make my own record
templates and organize my files. I couldn't
find anything that did what I wanted it to,
even over budget. So, naturally I begged my
spouse to finish a scaled down version of
DVMplus for me. The result was incredible!
Templated medical records; managing client
and patient data; and printing labels was
effortless.
I couldn't help but think that other vets
needed this too. Why wait to release it? So,
I offered DVMplus to my colleagues for free,
because we can. We also designed a zero
dollar monthly plan for when we develop more
features, because we can.
